EQUIPMENT
Primary Camera is the Canon EOS 1D MkIII which is a high speed (10 frames/sec.) sport photographer and wildlife photographer's camera that has 10.1 million pixels of resolution. In addition, many photos were taken with the earlier Canon 10D & 20D models as well as the Fuji FinePix S602Z.
This gives a very large shooting capacity in JPG format, and an impressive capability in RAW format.
The EOS 1D MkIII has a "magnification" of 1.3x compared to 35mm.
LENSES - For bird and animal photography, I usually use Canon lenses, the EF 500mm F4L prime lens or, the EF 100-400mm F4.5L zoom. Both are image stabilized lenses. When coupled with the EOS-1D MkIII this gives good "reach" for wildlife photography as well as fast focus and response for photographing skittish birds and animals.
Landscape photography is usually done with a Canon 5D MkII which is a high resolutionm 21 megapixel camera along with a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod and a Tamron 19-35mm F3.5 wide angle lens.
Other key equipment includes Cokin Pro polarizing and neutral density filters for taming high dynamic range lighting.
